ISAIAH: Remnant or Victim?

From the book of Isaiah

Perspective: God pleading with Judah to return to the covenant

Child, what has made you so sick?

Your cities, your worship, your heart desolate

You see fire you see trampling

But it's in the mirror you'll find the enemy

When will you find me trustworthy?

With hollow praise and unbridled pride

My heart mourns your vacant eyes

You stagger consumed by wine

Infants rule at desperation's cry

But there is one that will be glorified.

I cannot dismiss my love, you are mine

Delight one you'll see my Son rise

With an echo of the parting seas

He'll teach you to trust in me

Then I will heal you from your disease

A nation gnawing on another

Even worse brother against brother

A forged salvation of delicate nature

Your own savior became the oppressor

When will you look to your Maker?

My justice does not depart from mercy

It does not masquerade a rule of tyranny

But tills the ground for a permanent kingdom

Uprooting what destroys your freedom

Who will you choose to be: remnant or victim?

Woe to the squanderer of responsibility

Impoverished by lies but rich in revelry

Staggering kings without a backbone

But I will lay a steadfast cornerstone

Woe to the blind trying to convince me he sees

Who am I to you if you think I can be deceived?

Am I not the potter and you the clay?

Have I not promised to take away your shame?

Woe to those who hear their own prophecy

Ignorance is only safer momentarily

To see my face is to see this coming king

Whose righteous rule reverses everything

Zion, are you starting to recognize me?

Comfort, comfort, again I've parted the sea

Return to me Israel, I've been waiting

Why do you still liken me to powerless fiction?

Can your crafted image split the ocean?

I am unsearchable, incomparable to envision

I will make melody of a chosen man

A sword in my quiver, righteousness in hand

The Spirit's upon Him, a light unhindered

To rekindle love in your hearts like an ember

My servant marked by surrender

The tune slowly declines to a lament

As the marred servant pours himself out to death

Talons of grief sink in His pierced frame

For the first time a body unworthy of the grave

Willingly crushed by iniquity's weight

Observe humility in its most sincere state

The stray sheep spared from the slaughter

Except this lamb, chosen for the altar

Nothing else could've been offered

Ransomed one, my glory lifts you up

A garment of praise graces my beloved

Good news proclaimed on every corner

Crowns of beauty bestowed on mourners

It is the year of the Lord's favor

Righteousness adorns you like a bride

I declare your identity as My Delight

It's too light of a thing to just patch the holes

I'll create something greater than you've ever known

My child, will you come back home?

Everything else that you have trusted in

Has only dug a grave for you to lie in

Did I pour out to you enough of my heart?

Or will the crimsoned stains remain on my garment?
