OBADIAH: Traded Brother

From the book of Obadiah

Perspective: the prophet Obadiah speaking to the "brother" nation of Edom, who betrayed Judah when they were destroyed by Babylon

What pride enticed you with

Is something it cannot give

Thieves will become your friend

When you see my sword descend

Traded your brother for an enemy

As he was shredded by lion's teeth

Your calloused heart unmoved still

Do you close your eyes to your guilt?

Your wound cannot be cauterized

Your downfall will be Judah's rise

My holy mountain is the only throne

There is no reward in your boast
