MATTHEW 5:1-12: Beatitude

Inspired by the beatitudes Jesus lists in Matthew 5:1-12.

Beatitude - "a state of profound, holy joy"

Blessed are those stricken by grief

Their weeping plummets to the ground as seed

Knowing the garden where He too had prayed

Completely trampled but remaining unscathed

Blessed are those that are always starved

Not feasting to be filled but to hunger for His heart

Only these few will peer through the veil

His glory is inhaled as His love is exhaled

Blessed are the peace seekers

Who dare to look in the eyes of the miserable

They're acquainted with hate and cynics

They are warring for the untouchables

Blessed are the ineloquent

Their prayers are bursting life in barrenness

They are pressed yet can never be halted

But pressed and pressed and pressed

Blessed are those who've lost themselves

They don't consider their life their own

They'd relinquish anything for the kingdom

As their crowns are laid before the throne

Blessed are the ones who are bold

Not with words but with sacrifice

Their selfless request to be like You

Even in Gethsemane when you cried...

Not my desire, but Yours

Not my desire, but Yours

But Yours

Only Yours
